PANDIT NIHAR RANJAN BANDHOPADHYAY
Hailing from a rich and glorious heritage of Vishnupur Gharana Nihar Ranjan started his career under the tutelage of none other than his illustrious father Satyakinkar Bandhopadhyay , the doyen of Hindustani Classical Music . Later Nihar Ranjan received talim from his elder brother Dr. Amiya Ranjan Bandhopadhyay , a musician of rare brand who sings to the cognoscenti’s delight only .So It was no surprise that Nihar Ranjan with potential would stand out in eminence having grown up in such a family.
Born in the year 1946 Nihar ranjan made his presence felt when he stood first in Dhrupad and Dhamar in AIR competition held in the year 1962 .
Once he entered the arena there was no looking back and he forged ahead with yet another prize in Thumri in AIR competition in 1966 . In subsequent years he has justified the promise reposed on him through numerous public recitals he has taken part in. His aesthetic approach to the rendition has earned him critics applause time and again. An M.A from Calcutta University in literature in 1968 , Nihar Ranjan is now a reader of Classical Music in Rabindra Bharati University and performs regularly in AIR and T.V as an A grade artiste of Khayal and Thumri . He has been honoured as an artiste of National Programme of Door-Darshan , Delhi and has participated too therein. He is also quite successful as a teacher in the field of Classical Music.

A Stalwart Musician with true knowledge of Hindustani Classical Music. A true and worthy disciple of Pandit Kamal Bose descending from the great KIRANA gharana of vocal music. An artiste with rare superb quality of expression of Raga music , And have been considered a successful teacher of Hindustani Classical music and have showd the musical path to many talented musicians of this generartion, Koyel forms to be the one of them. Pulin was a official executive of BSNL company .now is an retired person devoted towards the spreading of the sacred awarness of the rich cultural Indian classical music.
